Providing Housing and Essential Services to our Vets 

Speaker - Marcie Polier Swartz- Founder CEO at Village for Vets

Through the organization Marcie founded, Village for Vets, essential services are being provided to maintain the health and well-being of our veterans. This was especially the case during the height of the Covid pandemic, when a tent city became a mainstay on San Vicente Boulevard in Brentwood. Through her organization, Village for Vets raised essential funds to erect small homes on the VA property, to move unhoused veterans from San Vicente and into a safer community environment. She and her organization continue to work with the Veteran’s Administration in bringing this much needed support to our veterans. 

Village for Vets was founded as a response to an urgent need and is rooted in the personal experience of the founder and her family. A VA social worker who was buying food out-of-pocket for the veterans she was serving called our founder, Marcie Polier Swartz, and asked her if she could bring twenty-five sandwiches to feed homeless Veterans seeking service at the Greater Los Angeles VA. Marcie delivered those sandwiches back in 2016, and Village for Vets grew from that first act of service. Marcie has a deep personal connection to the VA and to helping those who have served: her brother relied on her to help him navigate VA services after he left the Navy.
