Description: Our client is a leading charter school organization dedicated to transforming the face of public education in historically under-served areas. They are known for providing an empowering support network, innovative and customized teaching methods, and community outreach. They are looking for a Senior Accountant to help with basic accounting duties and as well as advise with financial matters within the organization. Responsibilities:
- Prepare bank entries and journal entries to support a cluster of schools
- Prepare invoices for accounts receivable
- Guarantee timely and accurate month-end closings by meeting daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
- Reconcile all items on the balance sheet on a monthly basis
- Review transaction reports and financial statements to discuss with the Accounting and Finance team
- Assist the Compliance team in reviewing the classification and treatment of revenues and expenses related to special programs, to ensure all grant funds are utilized
- Help schools prepare for audit visits
- Provide answers and support to school and business managers so they can make informed school site decisions
- Work with schools to ensure compliance with department policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or related field
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of general accounting experience- Experience in education, nonprofits, or government accounting, a plus
- CPA, CMA or MBA, a plus
- Knowledge and/or interest in charter school operations, a plus
- Solid foundation and knowledge of GAAP
- Ability to build and/or strengthen relationships with external stakeholders
- Familiarity with and willingness to learn about and utilize technology to improve communication, collaboration, and productivity
- Have a strong sense of integrity, ethics, and drive
